FFA Area 8 CDE Results

It was a wonderful day for Lorena FFA yesterday at the Area 8 Career Development Events!  We had an outstanding showing from all of our students who participated.  Here are some highlights:

Whitney Watkins was the 9th high individual in the Farm Business Management Contest. Austin Cook was the 7th high individual in the Livestock judging contest. Chantel Clabaugh was the 5th high individual in the Milk Quality and Products contest.  Blake Boiles was the 4th high individual in the Equine Evaluation Contest.  Ashlee handley was the 4th high individual in the Milk Quality and Products Contest, and Laramie Priest was the 3rd high individual in livestock judging.

2 of our teams advanced to state level contests.  The livestock judging team consisting of Laramie Priest, Austin Cook, Cody Whicker, Dawson Maultsby, and Gilbert Ramos was 2nd high team in the Area.  This is the best Area finish ever for Lorena FFA.  They will go to State competition May 5 at Texas A&M University.

The Milk Quality and Products(formerly Dairy Foods) Team consisting of Aimee Voiles, Hailey Ford, Chantel Clabaugh, Brittany Jones, Ashlee Handley, and Desiree Murphy brought the Area Championship back home to Lorena.  This is Lorena’s first Area Championship in this contest since 2006.  They will be competing next Thursday at Tarleton State University for the State Level Contest.

The Meats Evaluation Team consisting of Jared Smith, Connor Rossow, Garrett Tate, Cody George, Jacob Mathis, Jeremy Bauer, and Casey Maultsby will be competing this Saturday in their Area Qualifying Competition with a great chance of advancing.

Please congratulate all these students and wish them good luck at both area and state!!!!

Lady Leopard Soccer Reg. Quarterfinals

For the 2nd year in a row, your Lady Leopard soccer team won the Sectional Championship. On Friday night, your ladies took on the 33-4A district champion University High. The ladies came away with a 2-0 shutout win over the Lady Trojans and the 2012 Sectional Championship. With the exception of Midway(5A), these ladies have beaten every 3A/4A school in the Central Texas area. In their 3 playoff wins, they have outscored their opponents 15-1.

Out of 335 4A/3A soccer teams that started the season, your Lady Leopards are now 1 out of 32 teams still playing in the playoffs. As of Friday, they are 1 out of 4 3A schools still playing in the class 4A playoffs.
The ladies will now try to make history as they are now one win away from a trip to the class 4A Regional Tournament. It will be the first trip to the Regional Tournament in school history. The girls are scheduled to play yet another class 4A district champion school.

They will face off with Lumberton this Tuesday at 6pm at Waller High School.  Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.
