LHS Band Flautist makes 2015 ATSSB All-State Band

Congratulations to LHS band member Felicity Fulton for making the 2015 ATSSB All-State Band!

Felicity will perform with the All-State Band at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas in February.

High School Band Winter Concert & Honors

6th Grade Band Takes Top Honors


On Friday, April 13 the Lorena 6th Grade Band competed at the Sandy Lake Music Festival in Carrolton, Texas. Not only did the band receive all 1’s (Superior Rating) from all three judges, the judges also selected the Lorena 6th grade band as the “Outstanding Band” in the 6th grade band division. They were amazing!!!

Please congratulate the kids and the directors for their outstanding work!!! BRAVO Leopards!

Lorena Primary Prepares to "Rock the Spots"

You are invited to see the Lorena Primary Students' "Rock the Spots" program this Thursday, March 29th in the High School gym!  The primary students will perform songs and dances they have learned during the school year. The doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and the program will begin at 7:00 p.m. 

Note to Parents:  Please have your student seated in his/her assigned location on the gym floor, no later than 6:55. Children should wear jeans or shorts with a t-shirt. Clothes need to be comfortable to move in. The students must also wear tennis shoes, because they will be on the gym floor.

Solo & Ensemble Results

After lots of hard work and a great effort, congratulations go to McKenna Strauch, Andee Fonseca, and Callie Jackson for receiving first division ratings at this past weekend's solo and ensemble contest. Students that received first divisions and qualify to advance to State are Josh King, Charlotte Quaas, Victor Boswell, and Andrew King. 

The State solo and ensemble contest will be held this May. Good luck to these advancing students.

All State Percussionist!

Congratulations to Josh King!!!!

On Saturday, LHS Junior percussionist Josh King auditioned for a spot in the ATSSB All-State Band. Not only did Josh make it into the All-State Band, he finished first in his group at AREA auditions!

Josh will be participating in the ATSSB All-State Band in February at the Texas Music Educator Association Convention. This is Josh's third consecutive year as an All-Stater.

All-Region Band Honors


This past weekend members of the Lorena High School Band participated in the ATSSB All-Region Band Auditions at Groesbeck High School. Five of our students made it into an All-Region Band! They are:

Andee Fonseca – 2nd Chair French Horn (Symphonic Band)
Josh King – 3rd Chair Percussion (Symphonic Band)
Victor Boswell – 3rd Chair Euphonium (Symphonic Band)
Charlotte Quaas – 1st Chair Percussion (Concert Band)
Gabriel Scott – 3rd Chair Percussion (Concert Band)

Andee, Josh, and Victor will be advancing to the Area Audition on January 7th.

LISD Music Department Winter Concerts

Thursday, December 8 - Middle School Band (7th & 8th Grade) Winter Concert in the PAC.  Concert begins at 7 pm.

Tuesday, December 13 - Beginner Band (6th Grade) and High School Band Winter Concert & Cake Auction in the HS Commons.  Concert and Cake Auction begin at 7 pm.

Friday, December 16 - Middle School Choir Concert in the PAC.  Concert begins at 7 pm.

Drumline National Championship Results

Our 9 Lorena percussionists returned from PASIC national competition in Indiana this past weekend with great results.

Josh King is the 2011 National Snare Champion. This is Josh’s 2nd consecutive national title. Josh is now the 5th performer to receive this title twice, and he will try for an unprecedented 3rd title next year.

Charlotte Quaas got 2nd place in multi percussion, and Gabriel Scott got 3rd.

The percussion ensemble also performed in an interactive clinic and was well received.

Congratulations to these hard working performers: Jack Donahue, Trent Curry, Andrew Burleson, Andrew King, Brett Hendrix, Charlotte Quaas, Gabriel Scott, Victor Boswell, Josh King, and manager Andee Fonseca.
