FAQ's
Is my child old enough for Kindergarten?
Your child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st to attend Kindergarten.

What are the eligibility requirements for PreK?

A child who is four (4) years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year is eligible for a pre-kindergarten program if the child meets one of the qualifiers listed below:
  1. Unable to speak and comprehend the English language;
  2. Economically disadvantaged (qualifies for free or reduced lunches);
  3. Homeless;
  4. The child of an active duty member of the armed forces, including
    state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who
    is ordered to active duty (must be on active duty the first day of
    school);
  5. The child of a member of the armed forces, including state military
    forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or
    killed while serving on active duty; or
  6. The child is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adverse hearing. This also includes children who have been adopted or returned to their parents.
In order for LISD to offer the PreK program, we will need to identify 15 eligible children.  If 15 students are identified, then the class will be a full day program.

Tuition based info:
Depending on the number of qualifying students, the PreK program may be open to parents for tuition-based enrollment.

My child attends LISD PreK, do I need to attend Round Up?

Students currently enrolled in the district's PreKindergarent program are automatically registered for Kindergarten. So, if your child is currently enrolled in Lorena Primary PreK, you do not need to attend Round Up.

What immunizations(shots) will my child need?
Immunizations are an important part of public health, and state law requires students in Texas schools to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases.  The Dept. of State Health Services understands that it can be hard to find the time and money to get your children vaccinated.  They stress the importance of getting these required vaccines at the earliest possible time, to avoid the back-to-school immunization rush that occurs every year during the month of August.  For help determining what shots will be required for your child please consult your child's doctor or immunization clinic.  A list of K-12 required vaccines can be viewed by visiting the link here.
